Our Piano

On the drive home last night my husband chuckled to himself, "I never thought out of all my siblings I would end up with mom's piano." And he is excited about it. He surprised his sister when he expressed his desire to learn the piano. And that he was signed up for voice lessons. During his upbringing that was not really an options. It was something his sisters did.

I myself am not a very good piano player...and no, I am not being modest. I really do not play well. I have forgotten much of what I learned taking lessons back in my youth. But I do miss playing through the Christmas season. And now that is not a problem.

Cowboy's sister called and asked us if we wanted the piano, they are moving and no one in her family wants to continue playing. So, she wanted to see if anyone else wanted it. Of course we do!! It finally took her saying, "it's in the way, we need it moved now." for us to get over there and pick it up. Now I just don't know where to put it!! Our tiny apartment is not going to fit the piano. But we may find a good place for it. But we are excited to have it here.

Now there is no point in delaying those lessons!! I hope my kids see our love for music and start to desire to learn also. It seems to be a dying art, music. Sadly it is not encouraged where we live. In fact, if someone were to try to build the music program up they would be run right out of town (we have watched it happen too many times in the past 4 years). Good thing our children will be kept home and not restricted to the ways of the system here. They will be encouraged and supported at home. Exactly where they should be!!
